Kara Warren
Assistant Teacher (Maple Ridge & Abbotsford Location)

Dance has been a part of Kara's life since childhood. Having danced since the age of 3, Kara is classically trained through Royal Academy of Dance curriculum. She has extensive training in ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical and acrobatic disciplines. Kara has competed locally and internationally as a soloist and in groups, earning numerous accolades and national awards.

Kara began Irish dancing at the age of 11 under the instruction of Michelle Bond, TCRG. While a radical departure from her classical training, she quickly fell in love with the new and unique challenges that this discipline presented. She began competing regularly at local and international feisanna, and advanced quickly from a Novice level dancer to a Championship one. In 2008 she was awarded the Sionnaine Academy's "Best All Around Advanced Irish Dancer" award, marking an especially successful dance season. Kara ended her competitive dancing pursuits in 2009 and began teaching with the Sionnaine Academy that same year.

Aside from her dancing life, Kara has many academic and professional accomplishments. She worked briefly for a think tank in Costa Rica, studying sustainable human development in Latin America; while there, she had the opportunity to work closely with the Costa Rican Ombudsman and to perfect her fluency in Spanish. Kara recently completed her Masters degree in Counselling Psychology and works as a therapist specializing in trauma with women and children.

Kara's passion for Irish dance remains strong and always looks forward to seeing her students/Irish dance family, helping them achieve their goals and dreams.
